About LSF

Established in 1985, Leadership San Francisco is a community service program operated as a nonprofit affiliate of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, approximately 60 future community leaders are selected to participate in LSF's 10-month program. Participants are challenged to increase their understanding of the environment in which they live and work, and to learn how to respond effectively to community issues. They are part of a unique network of concerned citizens, taking an active role in influencing quality of life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

LSF participants strengthen their leadership, communications and collaborative skills, while they build strong relationships with their colleagues. LSF sets the stage for meeting with the movers and shakers in the city. CEOs, elected officials, educators, members of the media and leaders in various fields are eager to be invited as presenters at appropriate monthly sessions.

LSF participants benefit by virtue of the knowledge gained and the associations made as a result of their participation. Sponsoring organizations benefit from the broadened perspectives and enhanced potential of those individuals who complete the program and return to their jobs with a heightened level of community awareness. And the entire community benefits from the collective commitment to effective leadership manifested in the years to come by the alumni and other constituents of Leadership San Francisco.
