Leadership San Francisco (LSF) is an organization dedicated to educating and developing community trustees who will make a significant contribution to strengthen and transform our community.

The LSF program develops future community leaders who are both knowledgeable about the city and concerned with its well-being.

Individuals selected to participate in Leadership San Francisco explore community trusteeship, the ambition to work for the common good and serve the primary needs of others by holding their community in trust. Becoming a community trustee is less a specific skill to be mastered than the acceptance and active pursuit of a new way of interacting with the community. It means purposely seeking a wider span of awareness.

Building Legacies

LSF graduates are challenged to use the knowledge and leadership skills they have obtained to give back to the community, working together on projects that enhance the quality of life in San Francisco. It is a goal of LSF to attract, educate and develop potential leaders to work together to solve professional and personal issues. The program offers a multitude of networking opportunities, with many graduates continuing on with successful careers in business, government and nonprofits. The role of LSF is recognized by both business and public leaders as a valuable resource to the community as well as the quality of life in San Francisco.

"I attended Leadership SF in 2012, and have for the past 3 years been an alumni advisor. It's a great program, met some interesting people across the public/non-profit/for profit business sectors here in the Bay Area, learned about SF and ways to steward its communities, and had a lot of fun. It's an investment of time and money, but for you or someone you know, it might just be great. I rode in the back seat of a police car with 2 police officers for 10 hours in the Tenderloin one Friday night, got a tour of the special operations facility of the SF Police Department, along with the 911 response center, took a tour of the big residential development out in Bayview/Hunters Point, rode a cable car with some longtime SF residents who have never been on one!, and witnessed several debates between political allies/foes on various topics (education, role of government, public transportation/transit, et al.) of civic interest. I also experienced an incredible amount of care, goodwill, and concern for a city that we all love. It was inspiring, and I'm grateful to have been afforded the opportunity." - Seth Brenzel, Executive Director, The Walden School. LSF 2012.

"The program is a unique opportunity for participants to increase their understanding of the complexsocial and economic issues of San Francisco. Participants are exposed to the challenges facing San Francisco's leaders and learn how they - as individuals - may respond to those community concerns."
