About Leadership San Francisco

Learning, Leading, Building Legacies

Leadership San Francisco is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 with a mission to educate and develop community trustees who will make a significant contribution to strengthen and transform our community.

We operate two distinct programs.  Our LSF Flagship program is a 10 month program which deep dives into a variety of topics facing San Francisco. Our newest program, Intro San Francisco, will be launching in 2026 and is a 6 week crash course designed to make you fall in love with the city!

Both programs select participants from public, small business, corporate, and nonprofit sectors and represent a diverse spectrum of the Bay Area.

Testimonials

David Chiu

City Attorney of San Francisco

Class of 2010

"LSF has produced many oustanding civic, business, and political leaders in San Francisco. I was in the class of 2003 and I am still in touch with many friends from that wonderful year."

James Canales

President & Trustee at Barr Foundation

Class of 1992

"LSF is a critical part of the civic infastructure of San Francisco. I was lucky because I got to participate in LSF relatively early in my professional career, and there have been many benefits along the way."

Joanne Hayes-White

San Francisco Fire Chief (retired)

Class of 2003

"LSF was a great experience for me personally, and I highly recommend the program."

Steve Mayer

"There is a balance between government, business, and non-profit, and no matter which group you are in, all of them contribute to the greater good. When you go through LSF, you have a sense that we are all on the same page."
